The Last Of Us

The Last of Us… Perhaps the most requested game ever since I started the Jojo Reviews. Now I know why : it’s AMAZING !

For those of you who don’t know this game, it is a survival horror game. It takes place in the USA in a post-apocalyptic world, where an infection turns people into violent crazy cannibals, which started 20 years ago. You play as Joel, a 50-ish years old man, who lost his daughter Sarah on the day of the outbreak. He is supposed to smuggle Ellie out of Boston, a 14 years old teenager who is immune to the infection, and deliver her to an organization “The Fireflies” in order to find a cure.

The story is very sweet and heart-breaking. The two characters are trying to survive in this world, clinging on the very few ammunition the game gives you. You learn the infected aren’t the only menace in the introduction : Sarah gets killed by a soldier, not a runner (this is what they call a recently infected person). You meet people who want to hurt you, but also people who don’t. Joel and Ellie fight like hell to stay alive, but most importantly to stick together. You learn the worst about this world isn’t the constant possibility of dying, it’s the loneliness. When you’re alone, you have nothing to fight for ! Both Joel and Ellie experienced loss, so they will do anything to protect one another. I really like how their relationship evolved from strangers to father-daughter.

There’s no need to tell you this game is also terrifying. At one part, I had to pause the game to go number 2 : that’s how nerve-wracking it can be. The creepiest are the stalkers : when they notice you, they hide and wait for the right moment to attack → I HATE THEM but also I love them…

Now the voice acting. A great game also requires great voice acting. BOY did they do a great job. Rare were the moments I didn’t have chills during the cut-scenes. What I really liked were those moments where you can hear their voice breaking, adding a special something to the sentence that wasn’t that special to begin with.

Overall, it checked all the criteria for the perfect game for me. Stealthy, great story, marvelous acting and really pretty graphics.

So that concludes my review of this game. I’d give this game 4.5 stars, just because I did encounter many glitches that made the game sometimes frustrating : enemies disappearing and reappearing as I had just killed them, enemies teleporting.

Overall, it’s pretty amazing, and definitely in my top 5. I plan on playing it a lot more times and get all achievements.

As always, let me know if there is a game you would like me to try out, and maybe will make an article about it :).

    1. Thank you :)) ! I haven’t played many horror games, but I don’t really enjoy if it is JUST scary. What I find to be amazing are the scary games where at the same time you learn about what is happening ! It somehow makes it scarier

    1. Thank you very much !! I’m obviously sad they postponed it TWICE now, however I 100% trust Naughty Dog. I’ve been waiting for this game since 2016, so I can wait a few more months ! I’m a patient bunny.
